Albert Evans Jr. was born in 1940, in Houston, Texas to his proud parents, Albert and Clyde Evans Sr. He was the eldest of 6 boys. He attended Blackshear Elementary School. He was a proud graduate of Jack Yates High School, class of 1958. Albert attended Texas Southern University with an emphasis in Mathematics and was a part of the track team. Albert accepted Christ at an early age attending Shilo Missionary Baptist Church as a youth. He joined Good Hope MBC in 1987 under the leadership of Pastor Crawford W. Kimble where he became an ordained deacon. In 1996, he joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of his lifelong friend, Paster Donald Dickson. Albert was a faithful and active member of the choir and deacon board until his passing.
Albert retired from Texaco Oil Company as the lead Computer Operator/Technician after thirty-three years of service. After retirement, he later worked for the Houston Independent School District for five years. Albert was able to enjoy a well-earned retirement for almost 15 years. Albert was an avid golfer for over 40 years and always dressed to the nines. He also was what you would call a home “Pitmaster” and enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He was affectionately known as “Albert Junior” and “Frazier”.
Sadly, Albert passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory two loving children: Daryl (Raeco) and Keisha, and their mother, Emmer; three siblings: Richard (Mary), Ronnie (Stelena), and James (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends who loved him dearly.
