Doris Sims was born to Tom and Laura Gooden in Eagle Lake, Texas. Out of thirteen children, Doris was the youngest girl of her beloved siblings. Doris attended and graduated from E. H Henry.
Doris married Robert Frazier Sr. In this union, Robert Jr. was conceived. Later on in life, Doris went on to meet Willie C. Jones where two more children were conceived: Felicia and Greg. In 1984, Doris married Tommie Sims who she loved and remained married for over forty years. Doris was a devoted wife and mother to her family.
Doris accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age. Doris was active in church and was always on fire for the lord. She enjoyed volunteering her time to the sick in shut in. She would often offer words of encouragement and prayers. Doris was a faithful member of the Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. During her time of serving, Doris was a choir president for over ten years. She later became a mission president where she served in this role for forty years. Doris was employed at the Eagle Lake Community Hospital. After twenty-five years of employment, she made a decision to retire when her daughter, Felicia, had her first child, Courtney. Doris became a full-time grandmother and babysitter.
Doris departed this earth on January 23, 2024. She was surrounded by friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband, Tomie Sims; three children: Robert Frazier, Jr., Gregory Frazier, and Felicia Frazier; two brothers: Tom Gooden and Tommie Charles “T.C.” Gooden; best friends, Thelma Johnson, Mary Aldridge and Ruth Whitfield; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
