Eddie Glover Sr., affectionately known as “Eddie Boy,” was born in 1936 to Johnny and Geneva (Eva Mae) Glover in Columbus, TX.
Eddie Boy attended Riverside Colored School and excelled as a great athlete. He accepted Christ and attended Booker Temple COGIC in Columbus as a faithful member until his health failed.
During his lifetime he was employed by many people to support his family. He was employed by The City of Columbus, Hurricane Steel and Fence Company, Parker Bros. Gravel Pit where he fell 30ft to the ground and got broken up badly. After healing he went on to farm work. He farmed from the 80’s until he broke his neck at age 80 in an accident on the job. He was paralyzed from the neck down - unexpected to recover because of his age - but they didn’t know the Eddie Boy we knew. Him and God had one more job to do and he walked again.
Eddie Boy married his school sweetheart Johnnie Mae Gipson (Betty Jo) in 1957 and remained married until she took her last breath in 2021. To this union three children were born: 2 boys and one girl.
Sadly, Eddie Boy passed away July 15, 2023 at Columbus Community Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory: (3) brothers: Bobbie Joe, LeRoy Glover (Estella), Terry Glover (Sandra), (2) sisters: Minnie Perrino, Shirley Laverne (Joseph);(2) sons Tommy (Dorothy), Eddie Jr. (Roxanne); (1) daughter Betty Jean (Tonny); (5) grandchildren: Asontie, LaGeri (Terrence), Eddie III, Keandra (Jesse), Tommy Jr.; Special Sister in Law Corina (Doll) Ford; Former Son in Law: Jerry L.
