In 1944, a baby boy was born to Willie B. Robinson and Emmitt Montgomery. His name was Elmo Montgomery. He grew up in the Garwood Community under the care of his adoptive parents, Ora Lee and Ben Austin. He attended school at E.H. Henry. He worked in rice fields, did yard work, and babysat when needed. He was well known by many people.
On October 3, 2022, Elmo departed this Earth to be with his Savior. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Cora; nieces: Catherine, Lotrondo, Regina, Angel, and Chryl; nephews: Lyn, Kim, Tim, Ronterio, Chris, and Carl; and a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and special friends: Robert “Bren,” Katherine, Virgil Mae and Bobby, and Rev. Charles Williams.
