Esther Ball Obituary

Esther L. Callis Ball was born in Sandies Community, Texas to Matthew Callis and Henrietta Schooler Callis. Esther accepted and dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Sandies Community Baptist Church. She was also a member of BYTU and sung in the choir. She attended school at E.A. Greer up until the 9th grade in El Campo, TX where she was nominated “Homecoming Queen.” She was a short order cook and chairwoman for 14 years.

Esther married Oliver Ball and their union brought forth eight children. They raised their loving family in El Campo, TX. They temporarily moved to Freer, TX for several years upon returning back to El Campo, TX. She became a stay-at-home wife and loving mother.

When Esther returned to El Campo, she continued her walk with the Lord at Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A.A. Hargrove. She began singing in the Mount Sinai Choir. She was a devoted and dedicated servant of the Lord. After the passing of Pastor A.A. Hargrove, she continued to sing in the choir under the leadership of Pastor I.C. Edwards and after his passing, she now resides under the leadership of Pastor J.C. Williams. She continued using her singing voice for the Lord until her health began to decline.

Esther enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always trying to help those who were in need. She loved cooking, spending time with family and friends, and going to church to serve the Lord with her “favorite” sister-in-law, Barbara Williams.
