Isaac Wells, Jr.

In 1948, a handsome baby boy, Isaac Wells, Jr., was born to his proud parents, Carrie and Isaac Wells, Sr.

Growing up in the Heights area, Isaac Jr. attended the public schools of Houston Independent School District (HISD) which included Eighth Avenue Elementary School, Harper Middle School, and graduated from the infamous Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1966. He would then go on to attend Texas Southern University.

In 1966, he met his soul mate, Jean Wooten, and in 1968, they would marry. 

In 1979, he began his 27-year career at United Parcel Service (UPS) on Sweetwater Road working in the hub in the pre-load department.

Anyone who knew him knew he loved sports (both playing and watching), gaming, fishing, playing dominoes, listening to music, and sports cars.

Sadly, Isaac Jr. made his transition, with his wife by his side, at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital on the early morning of September 24, 2022 at 12:26 a.m.

He will forever be remembered, honored, and cherished by his loving wife, Jean Wells; five children: Audrey Vaughn, Gregory Wells, Isaac Wells, III (Sonya), Betina Wells Blocker, and Christy Wells Mitchell (Harold, Jr.); eleven grandchildren: Yannisha, Johniqwa, Jolissa, Gregory, Avian, Isaac, Alton, Maegan, and triplets, Colton, Hunter, and Haris; and sixteen great-grandchildren: Anayren, Amarr, Ayda, Autumn, Messiahh, Gregory Jr., Arianna, Nyla, Jayden, Terrance, Joseph, Ire’land, MaKayla, Za’Riah, Alton Jr., and Zamarion.

Also cherishing his loving memories are one sister, JoAnn Wilson (Charles); one brother, Godfrey Terry Wells; an aunt, Ella B. Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, a close cousin, John Perry Wells; and a host of other relatives and friends.
