Jannet M. Edwards, affectionately called "Ree," was born to Rev. Lemmie and Marion McGrew. Jannet attended the E.H. Henry public school system and graduated from Garwood High School in 1965.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at South Point Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor W.E. Gibbs. She worked diligently in the church singing in the choir. In 1981, Ree joined Mt. Sinai Baptist church under the leadership of her late husband Rev.Isisah Edwards where she labored faithfully as the president of the choir, president of Sr. Mission, and lead singer for 21 years. She joined Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Truman Scott Sr. until her health failed, and even during her health failure she still was still praising God until God called her home.
Jannet was the epitome of an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and hard worker. She dedicated 25 plus years to Rice CISD, as a teacher until her retirement in 2001. Jannet was a compassionate and dedicated woman to possess a vivacious personality and style. Jannet's smile was contagious, and she never met a stranger. Jannet loved traveling and attending events with her kids and grandkids. If you ever asked her what she enjoyed doing or where she was going, she would tell you “I'm going with my kids and grandbabies”
On November 4, 2023, God saw his beautiful child was tired and needed her rest. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories 3 daughters: Tereska Henderson (Kevin), Mechealinda Sanford (Rodney) Ella Smith (Ryan); 2 sons: Duvard Purdue (Carolyn) and Isley Edwards (Melanie); three bonus daughters: Debra, Janelle, and Rosalyn Edwards; 9 grandchildren: Derland Sanford Sr., Jarrett Christal, Jerinessa Christal, Dylan Sanford, Kayle Edwards, RyShaud Smith, Korey Edwards, RyShawn Smith, & RyLeigh Smith; 3 great-grandchildren: Jayden Sanford, Derland Sanford Jr., and Kingston Dickerson; 3 sisters: Veronica Daniels, Lemmie Parker, and Caryl McGrew; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
