In 1960, Michael Everett Mitchell was born to parents Malcolm and Helen Mitchell in Houston, Texas. Michael attended church as a child and as a young adult at Williams Temple Church of God and Christ. Michael became an ordained pastor in 2006, and he went on to become an associate pastor at Silverlake Church until his passing.
Michael was a graduate of South Houston High School class of 1979 in Pasadena, Texas, and he went on to attend University of North Texas. He was a member of the football team and an active member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Michael went on to play football professionally with the Los Angeles Raiders and Texas Gamblers. He was also featured in the movies "Any Given Sunday" and "The Replacements."
Michael fulfilled his dream of becoming a published author when his novel "Cerebral" was released in November 2020.
He is survived by his beloved wife, LaDiedra; five children: Adonis, Maricia, Marialle, Malik, and Mykul; two stepsons: Chad and James; two grandchildren: Paris and Maximus; one brother, Mark; one sister, Mia (Adrian); one uncle, Reuben (Ruthie); three beloved aunts: Margarette "Anne," Reedie, and Arnell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
