Mylik Edwards, affectionately called "Leek," was born to Jason Edwards and Mesha Shorter. Mylik was blessed not only to have his parents but was also blessed to have his grandmother Roslyn Edwards. Mylik and Ros shared a bond much like that of a mother and son. If you saw Ros, you saw Leek.
At an early age, Mylik was baptized and was a faithful member of Greater Union Baptist Church where he participated in the youth choir. At times, he would stand guard at the door taking the role of an usher.
Mylik adored his baby cousins Tyrell Jr and Wes Allen. He would bring his action figures to church so his babies, he called them would have something to play with. Leek had become Wes’s babysitter from time to time. Ros would tell him your baby is coming and he would get so happy. He called them his God-Children.
Mylik graduated from the Rice/El Campo Co-op in 2018 where he participated in special Olympics and excelled in bowling, track, and baseball. A gentle, creative soul, he was passionate in art and an avid collector of action figures. His favorite was Power Rangers. Every month he ordered a different figure or would receive gifts from his special pals of figures they would find for him. He received an award in 2016 from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for a rooster he drew. He was so proud of his drawing.
Mylik's life and legacy will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted mother/grandmother, Roslyn Edwards, his father Jason Edwards (Janet), his mother Mesha Shorter, grandfather Ezell Shorter, Sr.; twelve siblings: Jashon, Bryant, Jayceon, Cameron, Ro’Oderion, Elias, Ja’shonia, Ayden, Trey, A.J. Aidan, and Anthony; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and especially his favorite cousins Cookie and Lynn whom he would always joked and laugh with. He also leaves his special friends, Bridgette Hurd, Rita Kaye Cotton, Jeanetta Fry, and Linda Williams who all spoiled him dearly.
