Patricia, "Trish" Tumer Huckeba was born in 1949 to Dorothy Tumer and Henry Castle in Eagle Lake, Texas. She was the granddaughter of Minnie and John Tumer. She was one of their eleven grandchildren, all of whom stayed at Mama Minnie's house after school while their mothers worked.
Trish joined Mt. Olive Baptist church at an early age. She was among the eleven grandchildren who sat on the third pew behind Mama Minnie at Mount Olive Baptist Church every Sunday growing up. She was always joking, even as a young girl. The grandchildren would reminisce about how Mama Minnie would turn around in church and give them the "eye" and they would immediately stop talking. She, along with her first cousins, laughed often and had fun watching "stories" and American Band Stand at Mama Minnie's house after school. She was a daughter, sister, mother, and an aunt.
Trish attended E. H. Henry Elementary and Junior High School, and graduated from Eagle Lake High School, class of 1967. She attended a nursing program and worked at Eagle Lake Community Hospital as a nurse's aide and later worked at several home health agencies in and around Eagle Lake.
Her first marriage was to Sammie Aldridge. Years later, Trish married Charles Huckeba. They enjoyed traveling together. That marriage produced one daughter, Karen.
Sadly, Trish passed away on September 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Huckeba; parents, Dorothy Tumer and Henry Castle; grandparents, Minnie and John Tumer; and brother, Sylvester Castle.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Huckeba; sister, Dorothy L. Robinson; two nephews: Marcus Tumer-Wilson and Shawn Tumer; a host of cousins; and two special friends: Malinda Sims and Elaine Stewart.
