Phyllis Faye England was born in 1947 in Mossville, Louisiana to the late Ollie Mae and Wilfred England. She was the oldest sibling to her two sister Carol and Paris. She attended Mount Zion in Mossville, Louisiana under Jimmy Stevens.
Phyllis gave her life to Christ at an early age. She departed from Louisiana as young teenager, and moved to Houston, Texas. Phyllis gave birth to Pauline England in Houston, Texas. She devoted many years working at Tallowwood Church as a cook. She also worked at the University of Houston and retired. After retiring, she worked as a caregiver to the Grisby family, and some other families.
She had a deep passion for fashion, and she loved her fancy suits and hats. She also enjoyed to cook, traveling, and attending church. She was a member at Morning Star, where she earned her certificate of license in ministry in 1993 with Pastor Leonard. She continued her spiritual journey in ministry at St. Agnes Baptist Church with Apostle Moore. She was a preacher at St. Agnes and attended church regularly every Sunday or any time the doors of the church was opened. She was very proud of her accomplishment and spoke on many occasions. During her last years she was a member at Mt. Gilead M.B.C. under the leadership of Pastor Ford.
Pauline gave birth to two daughters Jamesia and Deiera who she loved dearly. She also enjoyed spending time with her great-granddaughter Ra’Niya who visited her often. She instilled in her granddaughters to further their education and be responsible strong black women. She made sure she brought up in the church and had a relationship with God.
Phyllis in her late years had some health issues, but she continued to work, attend church, and take care of her yard. She loved to give a helping hand to others when possible. Phyllis continued to keep faith, and believed God was still in control. Her favorite line she would quote “all the time was I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Phyllis favorite scripture was Psalm 23. She loved having bible sessions with her friends on the telephone.
She resided in Sunny Side, Texas where she was known as the nosey lady on the corner. Nobody bothered Ms. England and she was highly respected around the neighborhood.
Sadly, Phyllis passed away on December 25, 2022. She leaves to cherish her loving memories one daughter, Pauline; two granddaughters: Jamesia and Deiera; one great-granddaughter, Ra’Niya; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
