Rev. Mother Iva Lee Johnson was born to Willie Lee and Rev. Rance Johnson, Sr. in Eagle Lake, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev O.D. Ford of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member.
She grew up and went to school in the Eagle Lake community. Iva relocated to Bay City, TX where she met and later married Horace Lewis. The two of them later moved to Clute, TX where she worked for many years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant.
Iva soon joined Jesus Freewill Holy Temple Church where she answered her calling and was ordained to Minister. She began traveling from state to state hosting revivals and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Iva was the oldest of her siblings and after being miles away for so many years, she decided to move back home to Matthews, TX to be near her family again. She enjoyed being amongst her family spending time together and sharing laughter as she shared stories about her earlier years of life. She never hesitated to express her love for Christ and how good the Lord had been to her over the years.
Sadly, Iva was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Willie Lee Shorter; one brother, Robert Lee Johnson; a special niece, Roslyn Hintz (Nolan); one stepdaughter, Youlanda Gentry; three grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
