Russell Williams was the second of four children born to his parents, Burnis Williams and Lillian Williams-Ward in Garwood, Colorado County, Texas. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at South Point Baptist Church at an early age.
Russell attended Rice Consolidated High School, where he played football and baseball. He graduated in 1974 and later attended Wharton County Junior College to further his education. Russell worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 16 years before retiring.
Russell was an active member of a community committee, called “Old Skool Organization.” The mission for the organization was “Striving to Support and Broaden our Kids’ Horizons, One Child at a Time.” The organization held annual citywide kickball events, NFL sporting outings, Cajun Fest, and Holiday Parties.
On October 4, 1980, Russell married Genevia Irene Faison and to this union, two children were born: Brittany and Brian. In 1994, Russell met and started a relationship with Gloria “Neicey” Foster. The two later married, and to this union, Russell gained two bonus daughters. Russell and Gloria remained happily married until his death.
Russell always enjoyed and loved his family and close friends. He had a big personality with a big voice to go with it. His favorite hobbies included fishing, barbecuing, dominoes, watching sports and westerns, and playing with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
On October 17, 2023, God dispatched his angels to take our loved one home, He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Phillip Williams; and his son, Darius D’Wayne Holmes.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and dedicated wife, Gloria D. Williams. He also leaves behind three daughters: Brittany Williams, Rodnell Tyler (Brandon), and Cunneishia Foster (Charles); two sons: Desmon Holmes (LaTonya) and Brian Williams (Amber); three sisters: Lillie Jewel Revis (James), Gwendolyn Bernice Williams-Gray, and Sharlotte King. Russell’s legacy will also be carried on through the lives of his fourteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends he has touched along his journey.
