Winter Hymes was born in 1980 in Landstuhl Germany, but was raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1999. After high school, he attended Sam Houston State University where he met and soon after married the love of his life, Regina. Together, they were blessed to have two beautiful children.
Winter began working as an apartment manager for approximately five years until he was offered a position as an ISS teacher as well as a coach of the basketball, football, and track team at Wharton Junior High School in Wharton, TX. He loved sports and working with children, so this move to Wharton, Texas was a no brainer. He loved the students and the students loved him!
Winter is, and will always be, fondly remembered by his family for his sarcasm, witty humor, love of coaching and sports as well as his belief that pineapples belong on pizza.
Sadly, Winter Jade Hymes, Sr. passed into the arms of the Lord on November 26, 2021 while surrounded by his devoted wife and loving mother.
Winter is survived by his beloved wife of eleven years, Regina; two children: Madison and Winter, Jr.; his mother, Sonya; his father, James (Valerie); his brother, John (Vanessa); sister, LaDawn (Benjamin); special cousin and lifelong friend, Leon (Talia); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
To celebrate Winter's life, the family has entrusted the professional services to Ben Davis Funeral Home, 931 Preston St., Columbus, TX 78934.
